Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway 89
This popular route takes you 40 miles through spectacular Logan Canyon and on to turquoise-colored Bear Lake.

Bear Lake State Park
Often called the Caribbean of the Rockies because of its incredible turquoise color, Bear Lake is a paradise for sailing, boating, swimming, jet-skiing, water-skiing, fishing (for cutthroat, mackinaw, and whitefish), sailboarding, and scuba diving. For more information call 800-448-BEAR (2327).

Beaver Mountain Ski Resort
Beaver Mountain is one of Utah's best kept secrets. With over 464 skiable acres, Beaver has well-maintained slopes, northeastern exposure for morning sun, and avalanche-free conditions. Located 27 miles northeast of Logan on US Hwy 89. Open November to mid-April. 435-753-4822

Logan River
The Logan River is one of the best trout streams in the Intermountain West. It boasts great fly fishing and great family fishing too.

Beaver Creek Lodge
This lodge, located near the summit of Logan Canyon, offers outstanding opportunities for horseback riding and snowmobiling.

Horseback Riding

Snowmobiling
Northern Utah is one of America's favorite snowmobile playgrounds. Experience more than 300 miles of groomed trails through spectacular scenery with terrain that's as challenging or easy as you want it to be. The Bridgerland snowmobile complex in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest includes Logan Canyon, Monte Cristo, and Hardware Ranch. Some trails extend into Idaho's adjacent Caribou National Forest. The snowmobile season begins in December and often extends into April or May. Rental machines are available. The average annual snowfall in Logan Canyon is 400+ inches. Hardware Ranch Elk Refuge
Each year more than 600 Rocky Mountain elk make the ranch home for the winter. Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride and learn about these magnificent creatures. On Friday and Saturday evenings, enjoy a moonlit sleigh ride and dinner. Summer activities through the ranch are limited. A horse drawn wagon ride with a Dutch oven dinner is offered but requires a group size of at least 25 people. The ranch is a trailhead for many ATV trails and the parking lots can be used for that purpose.

Other activities in the area include: Blacksmith Fork River, Curtis Creek, and Rock Creek provides miles of access to excellent fishing. All waters on the management area are open to fishing year-round with appropriate licenses. Primitive camping spots are available during the year. No restroom or garbage facilities are offered. Utah State University
Overlooking the Cache Valley in northern Utah, Utah State University has been serving Utahns since 1888. With more than 23,000 students enrolled on campus or at education centers throughout the state, Utah State University is a Carnegie Research university, a distinction held by only 3 percent of research institutions nationwide.

Ellen Eccles Theatre
The Ellen Eccles Theatre has been the center of artistic activity in Cache Valley since 1923, bringing unique performances and cultural enrichment to the community. The Utah Festival Opera is in residence each summer. The Theatre and the surrounding cultural arts complex are home to art galleries and hands-on arts activities, and serves as a gathering place for community tradition. American West Heritage Center
Experience 100 years of American West history at this living historical site. Welcome Center is open daily, 9 am to 5 pm, from Memorial Day - Labor Day. It is open from 10 am to 4 pm from Nov 1 through April 1. Address: 4025 South U.S. 89/91, Wellsville, UT 84339; 435-245-6050

Willow Park Zoo
More than 400 animals are found at the zoo, including elk, deer, coyotes, bobcats, pronghorn, a large waterfowl collection, wallabies and exotic birds. Open daily 9 a.m. to dusk. Located in Logan. 435-716-9265.

Hardware Ranch Elk Refuge
View over 600 Rocky Mountain elk on a narrated sleigh ride and enjoy lunch or dinner at the ranch. Open for elk viewing daily, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (December 15 - March 15). Open year-round for other recreational opportunties. Located 18 miles east of Hyrum, on state Route 101 435-753-6168

Bear River Heritage Area
Experience our unique and diverse cultural heritage in the Bear River Basin where the Great Basin and Rocky Mountains meet. This region is the ancestral home of the Northwest Band of the Shoshone, mountain men roamed and traded furs here, and Mormon pioneers settled the area in the 1860s. Logan is a great place to begin your exploration of heritage sites featuring everything from the Golden Spike National Historic Site to historic hotels and restaurants, pioneer trails, Chesterfield ghost town, and the nearby mining town of Soda Springs, Idaho. Step back in time at the American West Heritage Center or at the National Oregon/California Trail Center. This seven-county area straddles the Idaho-Utah border and is home of an incredible array of beautiful landscapes including rolling farmland, the Logan Canyon National Scenic Byway, natural hot springs and geysers, and beautiful Bear Lake.

Utah Festival Opera
Each summer Logan rolls out the red carpet to welcome the world-famous musicians and performers of the Utah Festival Opera. The company, under the direction of Michael Ballam, presents grand opera, light operettas, and musicals. Productions are performed in revolving repertory so visitors can enjoy all four shows during a two or three day stay. Utah Festival Opera's season also includes orchestral and vocal concerts and a full schedule of audience enrichment activities such as production seminars, literary seminars, pre-performance discussions, and backstage tours. The scenery and costumes are spectacular and the performances are brilliant. Events

Festival of the American West
The award-winning Festival is known for its accuracy in offering visitors a more realistic understanding and appreciation of our history. Experience the Great West Fair, a gathering of historic reenactors, folk life craftspeople, entertainers, and food vendors who demonstrate life skills of the Old West.

Cache Cruise-In
Attracting over 1000 vehicles which included Street Rods, Street Machines, Customs, Restored Vehicles, Motorcycles, and Trucks, while spectator attendance has risen to more than 30,000 people. The three day event is held at Logan/Cache Fairgrounds, the closest weekend to July 4.

Bear Lake Raspberry Days
The harvest of the delicious raspberry crop brings tourists from all across the U.S. and the world to sample these succulent treats, and world-famous rasberry shakes. Come join the festivities the first week of August. You'll find craft booths, parade, rodeo and fireworks.

Utah Festival Opera
The four-week festival includes four productions of grand opera, operetta, light opera, and/or seldom-seen Broadway-style musical theater. Productions are performed in revolving repertory so visitors can enjoy all four shows during a two- or three-day stay.

Top of Utah Marathon
This scenic race is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon and begins at Hardware Ranch Elk Refuge, parallels the Blacksmith Fork River, and continues down the canyon into Cache Valley's small farming communities. Cache County Fair

Summerfest, an Art Faire and Music Festival
Stroll through canopies of shade trees and along a wandering stream as you shop at booths featuring Intermountain West artists. The music festival hosts well-known local and regional entertainment. Sample local food specialties such as Dutch oven cooking, Navajo tacos, and more. Martin Harris Pageant
A historical, musical production about the life of Martin Harris. He was one of the Three Witnesses of the origin and authenticity of the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and the epic struggle to publish it. Old Ephraim's Mountain Man Rendezvous
Don't miss one of the largest gatherings of mountain men in the West. The event re-creates the adventure and rugged spirit of a bygone era. The Celebrate America Show
Take a sentimental journey back to the 1930s and 1940s with the Celebration Singers and Dancers in this extravagant Big Band entertainment and Broadway-style show. The show highlights the World War II era and features a tribute to veterans, firefighters, and law enforcement--it's a musical celebration of the American Spirit. North Logan Pumpkin Walk
This is a pumpkin fantasy land. Walk through booths and displays all made from pumpkins and other vegetables. The Pumpklin Walk committee usually grows 2,000 to 3,000 pumpkins for the event. Four to six hundred of these are carved and lit with candles. This is a fun place for families during the Halloween season. (435) 752-1310

LOTOJA
One day, three states, 203 miles, no sweat! LOTOJA is the longest one-day cycling event in North America. The race starts in downtown Logan and travels the scenic back ways to Jackson Hole, Wyo. Cyclists pass through three states (Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming) and climb over a 7,000-foot mountain pass. Thousands of spectators watch along the course and finish line. This event attracts more than 800 riders and has been taking place for over 20 years. (Second Saturday in September) (801) 546-0090

MS 150 Bike Tour
This race is organized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and is Utah's largest organized cycling event. It attracts more than 1,500 cyclists and 300 volunteers. Participants pedal 75 miles each day on the back roads of Cache Valley's scenic countryside. An optional, shorter route of 40 miles per day is also offered. Adjacent Destinations

Destination Ogden: From Logan, proceed south on U.S. 89/91 to I-15. Continue south on I-15 to Ogden Utah. Distance 43 miles - 1 hour drive time.

Destination Vernal - Flaming Gorge: From Logan, proceed north on U.S. 89 to state Route 30. Continue south on state Route 30 to state route 16. Proceed south on state Route 16 to Wyoming 89 and continue to I-80. (Utah Route 16 becomes Wyoming 89.) Proceed east on I-80 to the Fort Bridger cutoff. Proceed on Wyoming 414 south to Utah state Route 43 and continue to Utah state Route 44. (Wyoming 414 turns into Utah 43.)
