The Jordan River runs north-south through the center of the valley, just west and parallel to Interstate 15. Salt Lake County is working with communities along the river to develop a continous trailway from the Utah County line down south to the Davis County line up north. Substantial sections of the trail have been completed in recent years with grant monies and ZAP sales tax revenue. Remaining trail work will completed as funds become available.
Park benches, picnic tables, restrooms and canoe marinas can be found along the trail.
The parkway trails wind through wetlands with cattails, many kinds of fish, foxes and other mammals, plus a variety of bird life. Several miles of trail are paved for pedestrians and bicycles.
